The County of Hwasung in Kyonggi-do in the Republic of Korea was upgraded to the City of Hwasung on Mar 21st,2001.
The City of Hwasung is located in the southwest coastline of Kyonggi-do---the capital in the Midwest of Korea. It faces China—a vast country across the Yellow Sea and has a coastline of 70 kilometers. It’s within Microclimate Zone with average temperature of 11.9 centigrade, the average highest temperature of 26.4 centigrade and lowest of 2.4 centigrade. Hwasung covers an area of 844 kilometers. As a new-type city which combines the function of countryside and cities, Hwasung is 1.4 times larger than Seoul with a population of 613,000. It govern 4 towns, 10 townships and 10 communities.
Hwasung is 51 kilometers away from Seoul. Being influenced by the metropolis Seoul, it has varieties of industries. There’re over 8,460 enterprises of different sizes, which include Hyundai Motoo, Kia Motors and Samsung Semiconductors. Hwasung also has industries in the areas of food procession, chemicals, mechanics, electronics, pharmaceuticals and automobile accessories.
The City of Hwasung has convenient transportation network. Gyeonbu Expressway from Seoul to Busan, West Coast Expressway from Seoul to Mokpo, No. 1 National Road and Gyeonbu Railway all pass through its territories. Hwasung is 80 kilometers away from Incheon International Airport, 53 kilometers from Gimpo International Airport. It is also near Incheon Port and Pyeongtaek Port.
