Mogale City is situated in South Africa, at the southern most tip of the African Continent. It is located in western border of Gauteng, adjoining the Metropolitan City of Johannesburg and the eastern border of the North West Province. It is a multicultural city and a place to live and invest in. It covers an area of 1,100 square kilometers and lies at the altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level with generally acknowledged moderate climate. Demographically Mogale City is the sixth largest municipality in the country and second in the province. Its population is about 340,000.
Mogale City is situated at the hub of the National road network access to an excellent railway system and all major airports. It has its own airfield, 5 railway stations, a renown athletic and sports stadium, an 18-hole golf course and an acclaimed cultural center with modern facilities. Its dominant economic sector includes retail, service and manufacturing industry. The tourism is well developed. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1999, the Cradle of Humankind in Mogale has gained international prominence for its rich fossil finds, which provide evidence of early human ancestry. Its 1,400 hectares game reserve has luxury exclusive facilities and 34 kinds of wildlife.
On November 14th 2006, Wujiang City and Mogale City Local Municipality signed the MOU formally to establish the sister city relationship.
