Shengze Town, dubbed as an ancient silk town and the Textile Capital of China, is one of the largest cloth market in China and one of the largest fabric weaving bases in the world. The town is home to more than 2,500 textile enterprises and over 7,000 trade companies. It has an annual textile production capacity of 13 billion meters, an annual silk-spinning capacity of 3.6 million tons and an annual printing and dyeing capacity of 3.8 billion meters.
In 2018, Shengze ranked 10th among the top 100 counties in China, with the regional GDP reaching 43.113 billion yuan, general public budget revenue 3.502 billion yuan, and fixed asset investment 7.867 billion yuan.
