Located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta region, the East Taihu Lake Tourist Resort (Taihu New Town) is close to Shanghai in the east, the Taihu Lake in the west, Zhejiang Province in the south, and Suzhou ancient city in the north. As a modern new district near the Suzhou Bay of the Taihu Lake, it is of strategic importance to the future development of the southern part of Suzhou.
In 2018, the East Taihu Lake Tourist Resort achieved 30.94 billion yuan of regional GDP, 19.53 billion yuan of fixed asset investment, and 4.1 billion yuan of general public budget revenue.
Aiming to develop into a demonstration zone for city development in the Taihu Lake economic belt, the East Taihu Lake Tourist Resort (Taihu New Town) is accelerating the construction of the Suzhou Bay Science and Technology City, the Suzhou Bay Software Park, the Suzhou Bay Science and Innovation Park, the Taihu New Town Science and Innovation Park, the Financial Industry Park and the Cultural and Creative Industry Park. And a number of major projects such as the GuoCe (Suzhou) Intelligent City Industrial Park, the Tusincere Information Industry Park, the Dao Internet Valley, and the Hengtong Big Data Industrial Park are under construction. In addition, the district is striving to develop its tourism industry.
